About the Event
The historic University town of Oxford is famous worldwide for its academic excellence and
tradition. It has some of the oldest University buildings in the world and has been an established
town since the 9th century. Today, it is a cosmopolitan mixture of old and new; as well as
the many historic buildings, colleges and museums it has excellent shops, restaurants, pubs, art
galleries and theatres.
PRA’s event dinner will be held in the beautiful medieval dinning hall at Oriel College and we are
also offering delegates the option to go on a sightseeing tour where two of the oldest colleges
will feature on the itinerary.
The Event programme consists of presentations from renowned researchers, based at leading
academic research institutions and top representatives from major companies, who will outline
their future research requirements. Also included is a presentation from a representative of the
EU DG for Research.
This unique event will give an insight into the future of coatings.
Purpose of the Event
This event is designed to bring together the leading academic institutions in Europe engaged
in research into surface coatings, with representatives of the coatings industry, mainly raw
material suppliers and paint companies. This will facilitate communication between academia and
industry, and act as a catalyst in the development of cooperation and partnerships in fundamental
research.
The Programme in Brief
The programme consists mainly of senior representatives of the leading academic institutions
in Europe, engaged in coatings research, making presentations on the competencies of their
departments, with a short review of current and future research activities.
In addition, part of the programme is devoted to speakers from industry giving their views on
the requirements of industry for fundamental research, as seen from the perspective of two raw
material suppliers and a paint company.
Finally, the programme allows time during the breaks and dinner for networking with colleagues
with similar interests on a face-to-face basis.
Who Should Attend
Attendance at the event is appropriate for any manager in the paint industry responsible for creating
value through innovation, as it will provide insights into new technologies in development and a
window into the future direction of research in the coatings industry. For organisations seeking
collaborative partnerships, it is an ideal opportunity to assess the institutions being showcased for
their potential to meet their organisations needs.
