Richard Holman – Biography

Richard Holman

Richard Holman joined PRA from BASF in 1991 shortly after BASF acquired Inmont Container Coatings with its subsidiary Fishburn Ink, for whom he had worked for 20 years.

Prior to working in industry Richard's career had been in academia. A degree in Chemistry from the University of London was followed by post-graduate research at King's College London and a period of post-doctoral research and teaching at Queen Mary, University of London.

With Inmont, after involvement in basic research and acquiring a practical knowledge of oil and liquid ink systems, Richard was seconded by the process engineering department to provide chemical technology support to a manufacturing development programme.

Eventually returning to the ink research laboratories, Richard led a team engaged in the development of UV curable products, a technology which has remained an area of special interest. He was a founding member of the Radtech Europe organisation and has represented the UK on its Board of Management.

At PRA, Richard has developed and managed the company's consulting services in inks and radiation curing technology. He has experience in leading investigative programmes in many areas of paint, ink and radcure technology, having additionally particular interests in colour theory and in aspects of weathering.
