2nd Hygienic Coatings and Surfaces Conference

26-28 January 2004, Florida, USA

Over 30 papers were presented at the second conference on Hygienic Coatings & Surfaces organised by the Paint Research Association in Orlando, Florida on January 26 - 28, 2004. Concerns over food safety and public health have never been greater, with terms such as listeria, salmonella, legionnaire's disease, e.coli, and SARS occurring frequently in the news. The role of hygienic coatings and surfaces in addressing these public health issues was the major theme of the conference. Numerous technologies have been developed, reflecting the complex nature of the problem, and the lack of a consensus for the performance requirements.

The papers presented at the conference were split into the following sessions:

  • Needs, Certification and Developments
  • Procedures,Formulation, Regulations and Surfaces
  • Metals, Powders and Nanotechnology
  • UV and Photocatalysis
  • Biocides
