Overview of Viscosity Oils & Calibration Services
PRA has been supplying calibrated viscosity oils and bubble viscometers to industry for over 50 years. We are now a calibration laboratory (Number 0804) accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). The oils and certificates we supply all bear the UKAS accreditation mark.
We have completely revised our range of calibration oils. The main changes are:-
- We now only sell one grade of calibration oil (the U grade).
- Each calibration oil comes with a certificate giving the viscosity at 0.5°C intervals between 20 and 30°C.
- Our uncertainties have improved.
- We now report to four significant figures.
- All our certificates routinely bear a calibration graph.

500ml Oil Packs
Ideal for calibrating equipment or flow cups at any temperature between 20 and 30°C.The certificate supplied with each oil can include the flow time of the oil through a specified flow cup at temperatures from 20 to 30°C in 0.5°C steps.
Calibration Kits
Boxed sets of any five oils from our range of calibrated U grade viscosity oils supplied in 30 ml containers. Calibration kits are very convenient for those who only need to use a few drops of oil at a time (to calibrate a cone and plate viscometer, for example).
Bubble Viscometers
Precision glass tubes partially filled with our calibrated viscosity oils. Bubble viscometers provide a convenient, low technology method of measuring viscosity.
Viscosity Services
Flowcup Certification
Flow cups should be certified annually in order to ensure their compliance with the appropriate standard. PRA can certify your flow cup whether or not there is a standard available.
Re-certification of Bubble Viscometers
Bubble viscometers should be re-certified every five years.
